The amplified version says “She was bent completely forward and utterly unable to straighten herself up or to look upward”…but here she was in “church”…nothing was going to keep her from worshipping God! Jesus notices her while he is teaching in a synagogue and He calls her over to Him and she is set free by His loving touch. I like it so much because of the attitude of the woman who had been bent over with a “spirit of infirmity” for 18 years. This miracle of Jesus is tucked away in Luke 13 and mentioned only here in the gospels. You will need cotton balls to glue on your sheep ( 1/2 ball is plenty), metallic gel pens to color the coins, and a “jacob’s ladder” to glue under the father after he is colored and cut-out. The verse is from Luke 19:10 but the parable of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son (the Prodigal son) was told to a group of publicans and sinners who had gathered near to hear Him (Luke 15), with a group of murmuring scribes and Pharisees in the background. He severely denounced their profiteering by quoting Isaiah and then welcomed the blind and lame, “and He healed them.” With twine, in which you have knotted the ends, make tiny whips. This fulfilled the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9, “…Behold thy King cometh unto you: He is just and having salvation: He is lowly, and riding upon an ass…” Righteous indignation compelled Jesus to overturn the tables, scatter the coins, and drive out those who were involved in taking advantage of those who were coming to worship God. He came into the temple after His triumphal entry through Jerusalem, on the back of a colt. Jesus clears out the commerce going on in the Gentile court of the temple at the beginning of His ministry (John 2), and again at the end of His ministry, five days before His death.
